This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded professional who wants to build or advance specialized expertise in a growing, highly regulated field with long-term career potential. The ideal candidate will bring knowledge of fire code and exposure to construction project management, construction inspection, fire alarm systems, fire protection, or building code compliance. Experienced professionals are encouraged to apply, as are earlier-career candidates who have a strong foundation, are eager to learn, and want to develop a niche skill set that is increasingly sought after by clients managing complex construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections and pre-inspections on active construction sites throughout the NYC metro area.
  • Identify deficiencies, document findings, and develop clear punch lists for project stakeholders.
  • Support coordination with clients, contractors, project managers, site managers, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction, including FDNY-related inspections.
  • Use technical knowledge of the 2022 NYC Building Code to evaluate project conditions and support code-compliant outcomes.
  • Communicate inspection results, project needs, and recommended next steps in a professional and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams while managing independent field and office responsibilities.
  • Approximately 60% field-based and 40% office-based.
  • Regular travel to project sites across the New York City metro area.
  • Must be comfortable performing inspections on active construction sites.
  • Occasional evening site visits may be required, though they are infrequent.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong working knowledge of the 2022 NYC Building Code, especially as it relates to fire alarm systems, inspections, and code compliance.
  • Experience in fire alarm inspection, fire alarm design, fire protection engineering, building code consulting, construction inspection, or a closely related technical field.
  • Ability to review drawings, identify field deficiencies, and communicate technical concerns clearly.
  • Comfort working on active construction sites and traveling to project locations throughout the NYC metro area.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with project managers, general contractors, site managers, clients, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
