Job summary

Corning Incorporated is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Plant Engineering team in Concord, NC. You will lead the design, installation, commissioning, and optimization of plant equipment and utility systems to deliver safe, reliable, cost-effective solutions.

You will partner with operations, maintenance, automation, process engineering, and external suppliers to improve uptime, throughput, quality, and asset performance.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related technology field.
• 5+ years of equipment or controls engineering experience in manufacturing.
• Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD tools and drafting standards.
• Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, Lean, or PMP certification preferred.
• Experience with CMMS, predictive maintenance, and spare parts planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead plant engineering projects from scope through turnover to operations.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Define mechanical requirements, specs, and acceptance criteria for plant systems.
• Develop and maintain equipment layouts, installation and as-built drawings.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, automation, and EHS teams to improve uptime and efficiency.
• Track schedules, budgets, and deliverables; report status to leadership.
