Job summary

Komatsu Mining Engineering Residency is a two-year, project-based learning program in Franklin, PA. Participants rotate through four modules covering global product engineering, manufacturing supply chain and operations, Sales & Service, and international product support.

Each module ends with a leadership presentation to senior leadership. You will gain hands-on engineering experience from cradle to grave, work cross-functionally to broaden your knowledge, build leadership and communication

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant discipline.
3 years' experience in engineering design, machine application, mining industry (desired).
Experience with CAD tools is preferred.
Experience implementing Lean Engineering principles and Change Management is desirable.

Responsibilities

Perform in engineering projects to develop, maintain and support components, products and/or services per market demands and for continual process improvements.
Conduct engineering evaluations including investigations, basic calculations and tests with defined requirements.
Provide conceptual and strategic solutions to engineering projects or evaluations.
Take responsibility for learning and development for mutual benefit of self and organization.
Act as group leader for teams supporting components, products or services and continual improvements in processes.
Support communication of engineering issues to ensure compliance with global standards for design and safety.
Assist in improving engineering processes used to design, develop, maintain and support components and services.
Participate in Change Management to achieve desired organizational outcomes.
Determine causes of field problems and propose corrective action.
Perform basic engineering evaluations, including calculations and testing as required.
Make field trips to mines to observe machines in operation and understand their application parameters.

Job Overview

The Komatsu Mining Engineering Residency is a two-year project-based learning program. Participants are assigned four modules over two years. These modules will cover various aspects of the Komatsu Mining business areas including global product engineering, manufacturing supply chain & operations, Sales & Service, and international product support. Each module finishes with a presentation to the leadership team

Key Job Responsibilities

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant discipline, required
3 years' experience in engineering design, machine application, mining industry, desired
Experienced in the use of computer-aided design (CAD) tools, desired
Participation in implementing Lean Engineering principles, desired
Participation in effective Change Management implementation, desired
Experience in cross-functional team assignment(s), highly desired
Certifications or demonstrated project management, desired
Professional registration and/or membership in committees and/or technical societies, beneficial.
