Job summary

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to advance state-of-the-art mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for aerospace, defense, and related applications. Responsibilities span ideation, design, analysis, fabrication, integration, and testing across multiple environments.

Candidates should have 4+ years of Solidworks experience, proficiency in CFD/FEA (AnSYS Icepak), and a background in thermal analyses, GD&T, and 2D/3D modeling. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance.
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute complex mechanical packaging tasks, including sensor integration and thermal/power management.
  • Conduct detailed mechanical and electro-mechanical design studies and requirements analysis.
  • Lead mechanical simulation, analysis and test tasks including thermal, shock, vibration, and reliability testing.
  • Prepare technical data packages and direct other engineers/drafters.
  • Design and document using 2D/3D modeling tools; generate performance criteria with the project lead.
  • Translate requirements into architectures for subsystems and complete systems.
  • Oversee fabrication and manufacturing of prototypes; develop or contribute to reports and proposals.
  • Design tools/processes to accelerate project objectives; mentor junior staff.
  • Significantly contribute to white papers and competitive proposals.
