Job summary

Jobot in Chicago, IL is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its design-build team on a range of Building Systems projects. You will work with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, code-compliant designs across schematic design, development, and construction documentation.

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 4–8 years of relevant experience, PE license for Engineer title (Designer allowed without PE), and a strong track record in BIM,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related accredited program.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline a plus.
  • 4–8 years of related mechanical engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required for Engineer title; Designer designation if no P.E.
  • Experience in engineering analysis, mechanical system design, and system selection.

Responsibilities

  • Involved through full project lifecycle from schematic design to post-occupancy.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver constructible designs.
  • Develop BIM models, drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate permitting and regulatory documentation with local agencies.
  • Research mechanical systems and sustainable design practices.

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its growing MEP Engineering team. This position will work closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality building systems that align with client goals, project budgets, schedules, sustainability objectives, and applicable building codes.

The Mechanical Engineer will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, including schematic design, design development, construction documents, construction administration, and post-occupancy.

Job Details
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related accredited engineering program required.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is a plus.

  • Experience developing design documentation, including BIM models, drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience working through schematic design, design development, construction documents, construction administration, and post-occupancy.
  • Ability to coordinate permitting and regulatory documentation with multiple local agencies and jurisdictions.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with architecture, engineering, sustainability, construction, and outside consultant teams.
  • Ability to communicate technical solutions and performance objectives clearly while considering client goals, budget, schedule, constructability, and project performance.
  • Experience conducting research on mechanical systems, products, building codes, and sustainable design practices.
  • Experience with construction-phase activities, including submittal review, construction site observations, and commissioning.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • LEED or other sustainable building certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
