Job summary

HDR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in the Building Engineering Services group, focused on data center facilities and on-site project work in the Chicago area. You will design, specify, and coordinate mechanical systems, collaborate with a multi-discipline team, and engage with clients and the local engineering community to deliver successful projects.

The role requires a PE license, a bachelor's in mechanical engineering, and at least 3 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required by licensing board.
• Minimum 3 years of mechanical system design experience in commercial/institutional buildings.
• Data Center design experience preferred.
• Experience with MS Office and TRACE or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate mechanical design team through schematic design to contract documents.
• Attend reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
• Coordinate workload to meet project schedules.
• Conduct site work sessions with Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Review documents for conflicts with other disciplines.
• Prepare mechanical specifications and select equipment and systems.
• Incorporate changes via addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders.
• Provide construction contract administration as needed.
• Perform QA/QC on work of junior engineers/technicians.
• Assist other disciplines as needed.
