Job description

Position Title: Engineer/Project Manager - Emphasis in HVAC Experience - Support Services with the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE)

Location: Remote (50% Traveling Required)

Salary: $90,000-$100,000 Annual

Position Overview:

This position involves reviewing and assessing existing BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) and BIE (Bureau of Indian Education) facilities using technical engineering expertise to recommend solutions for issues related to system/utility designs, construction, or improvements, especially concerning ventilation/HVAC systems and environmental hazard abatement projects.

The role requires onsite evaluations across the nation to determine the condition of facilities, the adequacy of ventilation and water systems, and compliance with safety, health, ADA, energy, and environmental standards. The Engineer/Project Manager will also address recommendations from assessments to improve existing facilities.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Conduct onsite inspections and evaluations of facilities nationwide, assessing condition, compliance, and utility systems for renovation or modifications.
  • Assist in developing budgets, justifications, and verify conditions reported by facility managers.
  • Ensure appropriate planning, design, and construction practices are followed.
  • Create plans and conceptual designs for renovations and improvements.
  • Support project initiation and provide technical assistance, including condition verification and repair estimates.
  • Evaluate and recommend solutions for facility improvements.
  • Review proposed sites for topography, subsurface conditions, utilities, and development costs, providing recommendations.
  • Document assessment reports into the MAXIMO asset management system.
Required Education, Knowledge, and Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field with a license.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, particularly in ventilation/HVAC and water systems engineering.
  • Knowledge of facilities planning, architecture, and engineering principles.
  • Experience with government projects and team leadership.
  • Extensive project management experience for facility improvements.
  • Physical ability to perform moderate physical activities and site visits.
  • Must pass background checks and hold a valid driver’s license.
