Job summary

SMS group USA is seeking a design/drafting specialist to support continuous casting sales projects in the NAFTA market, with aftermarket proposals and general representation of the company. The role is onsite in Pittsburgh, PA, reporting alongside Sales, Engineering, and Automation teams.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering background, 5+ years in steelmaking equipment, and strong skills in AutoCAD and Creo, plus problem-solving and teamwork to coordinate cross-department efforts.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent experience in mechanical design and drafting required.
• Minimum 5 years experience working with industrial steelmaking equipment and facilities.
• Specific experience in continuous casting design preferred.
• Candidates must be self-motivated and display creativity, strong problem-solving skills, good communication skills and work well in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team.
• Environment
• Excellent computer skills, with a strong emphasis on AutoCAD and Creo.

Responsibilities

• In conjunction with the Sales Managers, Engineering Department and Automation Department, determine which equipment references will be used for proposal creation
• Create layout drawings and engineering investigations in support of sales projects
• Management of layout work for proposal preparation
• Select and adapt appropriate reference equipment to use as a basis for new efforts
• Coordination of layout efforts amongst different design departments, when necessary
• Customer support / liaison of the company’s domestic reference
