Job summary

Vertiv in Anderson, SC is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and release custom busbar assemblies and tap-off boxes for data centers. You will generate 2D and 3D SolidWorks models from project requirements and load production with material needs from approved drawings.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to run trials of new designs, ensure compliance with ANSI/ISO and customer specs, prepare BOMs, manufacturing instructions and design reports, and support the shop floor

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within an Engineered-to-Order (ETO) environment
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication (steel, copper, aluminum), welding, machining
• Understanding of industry standards such as ANSI and ISO
• Knowledge of regulatory bodies preferred (UL, CSA, ETL, etc)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) required
• Experience with SolidWorks PDM system required
• Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment independently and as a member of a dynamic team; offer and receive constructive criticism

Responsibilities

• Design and release custom busbar assemblies and tap-off boxes for data center industry
• Generate 2D and 3D SolidWorks busbar models from project requirements
• Load production systems with material requirements from approved drawings
• Prepare technical submittals with accurate 2D drawings for client review
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to run trials and support mass production release
• Ensure designs comply with ANSI/ISO standards and customer specs
• Provide BOMs, manufacturing instructions, and design reports
• Collaborate with manufacturing to resolve design issues on the shop floor
• Modify existing designs and create new ETO solutions
• Participate in peer-review release processes for models and drawings
