Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design team on mid- to large-scale projects in Texas. You will coordinate design development, ensure code compliance, and work with project teams at site visits with the Project Manager and other disciplines.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, PE license, and 3+ years of experience in commercial or institutional facilities. Healthcare/tech/civic project experience and LEED interest are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• PE or P.Eng license is required.
• 3+ years of mechanical system design experience for commercial or institutional buildings.
• Experience with healthcare, science/tech, or civic facilities a plus.
• Experience with MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software; knowledge of selection tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the mechanical design team through schematic design and contract documents.
• Participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
• Coordinate workload to meet project schedules.
• Conduct site work sessions with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Review documents for conflicts with other disciplines.
• Draft and edit mechanical specifications and select equipment.
• Support with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders.
• Provide construction contract administration as needed.
• Perform QA/QC on the work of junior engineers or drafters.
