Job summary

HDR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services Group in San Antonio. You will coordinate mechanical design across schematic and contract document phases, work with cross-disciplinary teams, and ensure code compliance through agency reviews.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experience in commercial or institutional facilities, familiarity with MS Office and design software, and a PE license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board.
• Experience in commercial or institutional facilities.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Trane TRACE or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the mechanical design team through schematic design and contract document phases.
• Establish meetings and reviews with agencies for code compliance.
• Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule.
• Conduct on-site work sessions with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Review mechanical documents for conflicts with all disciplines.
• Write and edit mechanical specifications and select equipment and systems.
• Coordinate with affected disciplines on addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and changes; incorporate changes into documents.
• Provide construction contract administration as needed.
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of junior mechanical staff as needed.
• Perform additional duties as required.
