Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experience
  • Associate degree with 9+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and material properties
  • Intermediate to advanced Creo experience
  • Foundational understanding of dimensional tolerancing
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to develop and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation
  • Strong verbal communication, teamwork, initiative, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and evaluate mechanical design concepts and support design release and checking activities.
  • Design and develop mechanical components and assist with engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
  • Perform mechanical part validation, including fit-up, assembly, vibration testing, and thermal testing.
  • Work with suppliers on manufacturing considerations and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve design or production issues.
  • Investigate equipment or component failures, identify causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and engineering reports.

Job description

Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer 3 in Chillicothe, IL. This position is 100% onsite, Monday-Friday, with an 8:00 AM-4:00 PM or 9:00 AM-5:00 PM schedule. This is a 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. The role may require up to 25% travel to Appleton, WI and Noblesville, IN. Compensation is up to $46/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).

Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer 3 will join a Power Electronics design team supporting electric-drive products and new systems focused on improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions. The engineer will be responsible for mechanical design concept development, design release and checking, and validation of mechanical components. This position combines hands-on mechanical design with fit-up, assembly, vibration and thermal testing, as well as collaboration with suppliers and other Mechanical and Power Electronics Engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experience, OR
  • Associate degree with 9+ years of relevant experience. Internships may count toward experience.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and material properties.
  • Intermediate to advanced Creo experience.
  • Foundational understanding of dimensional tolerancing.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to develop and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Strong verbal communication, teamwork, initiative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer or in a closely related mechanical design role.
  • Knowledge of heat transfer concepts.
  • Knowledge of metallic material properties.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, particularly in environments involving Power Electronics.
  • Experience with mechanical design validation, including fit-up/assembly, vibration testing, and thermal testing.
