Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for an Electrical Engineer 5. The work will be done onsite full-time in Mossville, IL. This is a long-term 24-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $59/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
Cullerton Group is seeking a senior-level Electrical Engineer to support the testing, validation, and development of high-power electrical components for electrified drivetrain systems. This role focuses on hands‑on laboratory testing, test planning, data analysis, and failure investigation for power electronics components operating in high‑voltage and high‑current environments. The engineer will collaborate closely with global engineering teams, suppliers, and technical specialists to ensure robust, reliable component designs. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys lab‑based work and complex electrical system development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and validate electrical components including power modules, capacitors, current sensors, and PCBs
- Plan and execute high‑voltage, high‑current, and high‑temperature component tests
- Set up test fixtures, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
- Analyze test data, document results, and present technical findings
- Perform failure analysis and support root cause investigations
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements
- Utilize quality tools such as FMEA, APQP, and PPAP
- Collaborate with suppliers and cross‑functional engineering teams
- Support limited domestic travel (0–25%) for supplier or project needs
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required); Master’s degree preferred
- 10+ years of professional electrical engineering experience
- Strong hands‑on testing experience with high‑power, high‑voltage electrical components
- Experience developing and executing detailed test plans
- Proficiency using oscilloscopes, data loggers, HV differential probes, current transducers, thermal chambers, and power supplies
- Strong understanding of power electronics and electrical theory
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, Excel, and related data analysis tools
- Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Power electronics or electrified drivetrain experience
- Experience with double pulse testing of power modules
- Experience developing or improving test methods and tools
- Experience working across electrical, mechanical, thermal, quality, and manufacturing teams
- Experience collaborating with global teams and suppliers
