Job summary

Futures Consulting, LLC in Washington DC seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of large, complex mechanical systems within an MEP consulting team. You will develop sustainable concepts and detailed drawings for high-profile building projects, coordinating with architecture, structure, and electrical disciplines.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 3+ years in an MEP/consulting setting, and strong AutoCAD and Revit skills. EIT/PE and LEED AP are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 3+ years in an MEP/consulting engineering environment preferred.
  • EIT or PE highly preferred.
  • Strong AutoCAD and Revit experience.
  • Ability to fully design mechanical systems across multiple building types.
  • Experience with commercial, mixed-use, mission critical, life science, or R&D facilities valued.
  • LEED AP accreditation highly preferred.
  • Solid, stable career history with good communication and leadership.

Job description

We’re seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a leading MEP consulting team in Washington DC. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer who wants to take a technical leadership role while working on complex, high-profile building projects.

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead the design of large and complex mechanical systems.
  • Develop sustainable mechanical solutions, concepts, and detailed design drawings.
  • Provide consulting services including due diligence, gap analyses, and feasibility studies.
  • Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, and telecom disciplines.
  • Work closely with clients, owners, contractors, and project teams.
  • Establish project design standards, specifications, budgets, and schedules.
  • Oversee drawing production and participate in QA/QC reviews.
  • Mentor and support staff while assisting with resource management.
  • Support proposals, business development, presentations, and client relationships.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 3+ years of experience in an MEP/consulting engineering environment.
  • EIT or PE highly preferred
  • Strong AutoCAD and Revit experience.
  • Ability to fully design mechanical systems across multiple building types.
  • Experience with commercial, mixed-use, mission critical, life science, or R&D facilities is highly valued.
  • Strong multidisciplinary coordination and constructability knowledge.
  • LEED AP accreditation is highly preferred.
  • Solid, stable career history with strong communication and leadership skills.
