Recruiting Consultant | LHH | Program Management and Relationship Building
LHH is conducting a search for a Mechanical Engineer for our client to support the design and delivery of engineered power and infrastructure products in a manufacturing environment. This is a hands‑on, onsite design role for an engineer who can take concepts from a blank sheet of paper through fabrication‑ready documentation without intermediaries.
Location: Tulsa, OK
Work Model: Fully onsite, Monday–Friday (up to 5 remote days per month)
Compensation: $110,000–$125,000 base salary, plus annual company bonus
The Mechanical Engineer partners directly with Product Engineers and fabrication teams to design real, buildable mechanical systems. This role owns structural elements, enclosures, and shop drawings end‑to‑end. It is not a project‑management role and not a documentation‑only position. Success in this role requires strong mechanical intuition, manufacturing awareness, and accountability for designs that can be built without rework.
Mechanical & Structural Design
- Develop orthographic internal and external projections from general arrangement plan views
- Design base skids and structural elements; produce shop drawings for sawing, coping, tacking, and welding
- Design NEMA 3R enclosures from elevation views and generate fabrication‑ready drawings
Engineering Analysis & Modeling
- Model and analyze enclosures and skids using SkyCiv or comparable tools
- Produce structural calculations for civil engineers and approval authorities
- Model system thermal loads and calculate HVAC sizing
Design Ownership
- Start designs from a blank sheet, including trusses, enclosures, and structural systems
- Select materials and define how components are assembled and manufactured
- Ensure all designs are practical, code‑aware, and ready for fabrication without hand‑holding
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of mechanical design and solid modeling experience
- Demonstrated ability to produce detailed, fabrication‑ready designs
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Advanced Steel, SkyCiv, or comparable tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field (MET accepted)
- Exposure to at least one applicable code (experience with none is a disqualifier):
- International Building Code (IBC)
- International Mechanical Code (IMC)
- International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)
- National Electrical Code (NEC / NFPA 70)
Preferred Qualifications
- Structural analysis experience
- Manufacturing environment experience with direct design‑to‑build accountability
- EIT completed
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
- Familiarity across multiple building and electrical codes
- Defined advancement track: Mechanical Engineer → Product Engineer → Principal Engineer
- Strong internal training and mentorship programs
- Active support for EIT and PE progression, including mentorship and sign‑off
- Cross‑disciplinary exposure across mechanical and electrical engineering
- Long‑term opportunity for engineers who want deep technical impact rather than pure management
Compensation & Benefits Snapshot
- Bonus: Annual company bonus tied to company performance
- PTO: 6.66 hours per month
- Sick Leave: 4 hours per month
- 2 floating holidays annually
- 11 paid company holidays
This opportunity is well‑suited for a mechanically driven design engineer who wants to own real products, work closely with fabrication teams, and grow into senior technical leadership within a stable, engineering‑led organization.
