Job summary

Pyramid Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a 06+ months contract, onsite in Detroit, MI. The role supports engine, axle, and transmission assembly lines with hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or related field and at least 3 years in manufacturing. Shifts include 11PM-7AM or 3PM-11PM EST; benefits include health, 401(k), and paid sick leave.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience within an assembly or production environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience supporting manufacturing equipment on the production floor.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems, automation equipment, and assembly processes.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard engineering software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily maintenance engineering support for engine, axle, and transmission assembly lines.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical equipment failures and support skilled trades in resolving production issues.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Review engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation to identify spare parts and maintenance requirements.
  • Design, develop, and implement tooling and assembly process improvements to support new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support procurement, installation, commissioning, and certification of manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist with equipment validation, including torque tools, leak testers, gauges, and fastening systems.
  • Work closely with production supervisors and operators to ensure adherence to manufacturing processes and production targets.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to assemblers, supervisors, and maintenance personnel.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve equipment performance.
  • Support weekend production coverage and respond to equipment breakdowns when required.

Key Responsibilities:
