Job summary

Iconma, LLC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Redford, MI location. Shift: 11pm - 1am. Days: Monday through Friday with one weekend day every other week.

Responsibilities include supporting Engines and Axles assembly lines, doing project work and maintenance, and interfacing with line supervisors to ensure production targets are met. The role involves reviewing drawings, developing spare parts lists, implementing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting tooling, and procuring equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or Technology; 8+ years experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • 3+ years manufacturing experience in an assembly environment.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Project management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCad LT and robotics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct line/maintenance engineering support for Engines and Axles Assembly platforms.
  • Work on project-based assignments and maintenance engineering for production.
  • Interface with line supervisors and hourly workforce to ensure methods and metrics.
  • Review station drawings and BOMs; develop spare parts lists.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance for existing and future equipment.
  • Troubleshoot tooling and equipment issues; support product changes.
  • Develop tooling and assembly process methods; procure equipment with purchasing.
  • Stay updated on industry technological developments.
  • Participate in weekend production coverage rotation with other MEs.

Job description

Our client, an Automotive organization, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer for their Redford, MI location. Shift: 11pm - 1am. Days: Monday through Friday with one weekend day every other week.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct line/ maintenance engineering support for the Engines Assembly platform, as well as Axles Assembly processes as needed.
  • Work in the assembly areas will include both project-based assignments as well as maintenance engineering support to production.
  • Direct interface with line supervisors and hourly workforce ensuring adherence to work methods and production metrics.
  • Review station level drawings and BOM’s, developing recommended spare parts lists.
  • Development and implementation of Preventative Maintenance procedures on existing and future equipment.
  • Daily troubleshooting assistance for tooling and equipment breakdowns.
  • Develop and implement tooling for product changes.
  • Develop and implement assembly process methods.
  • Procure equipment (work with purchasing and vendors)
  • Keep current of technological developments in the industry.
  • Participate in weekend production coverage rotation with fellow ME’s.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering Technolog (8+ years of applicable experience in lieu of degree)
  • Min 3 years manufacturing experience in an assembly environment
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are complex
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • At least one year project management or supervisory experience (preferred)
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of materials and methods of manufacture
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with AutoCad LT (preferred)
  • Familiar with pressing operations, including both Kistler and Promess hardware (preferred)
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting torque tooling (preferred)
  • Proficient with PC hardware and commercially available software (i.e. Windows, etc.)
  • Knowledge of robots: Fanuc and Kuka
