Job summary

Everest Consultants is seeking an on-site Mechanical Engineer in Portland, OR for a 6-month term with potential conversion to full-time. You will work on new and existing designs, capturing customer voice and coordinating a cross-functional team across engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers.

Responsibilities include designing precise components, creating drawings, and supporting validation and production releases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required.
• 2+ years of industry experience.
• Experience with electromechanical design and drawing creation.
• Ability to solve problems independently and manage multiple projects.

Job description

Title: Mechanical Engineer (onsite work)

Duration: 6 Months (possibility of converting to FTE)

Location: Portland, OR

The Mechanical Engineer works on new and existing designs to both the market and Client internal environment. Client's designs are proprietary. This position involves capturing the Voice of the Customer and working with a cross-functional design team which includes members from all facets of the organization.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 2+ years of industry experience
• Electromechanical component and assembly design
• Ability to solve problems independently and manage the workload of multiple projects and tasks
• Ability for occasional travel to customer sites
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management and communication skills
• SolidWorks CAD design capabilities
• Manufacturing drawing creation
• BOM management and part numbering
• Experience with top-down assembly methodology, 3D modeling, and 2D drawing creation

Daily Responsibilities:

• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including material selection, stress analysis, and kinematics
• Knowledge of or experience with technologies including injection molding, thermoforming, blow molding, metal fabrication, casting, extrusion fluid flow and pressure dynamics
• Ability to design components and assemblies with high precision, considering tolerances for manufacturing and assembly processes
• Design and engineering of complex assemblies and sophisticated system level products including electrical, software and mechanical components and integration
• Experience with prototyping and iterating on design concepts
• Ability to manage design and development projects from start to completion
• Development and coordination of testing and test fixtures to verify product performance
• Follow Design and Development processes and procedures for conformance to quality management system
• Excellent communication skills
• Process and product improvement initiatives to eliminate defects and waste
• Understand and conform to applicable regulatory safety guidance and certification needs as it pertains to our product requirements
• Supplier identification and selection as needed
• Development and documentation of assembly methods for new and existing products
• Development of documentation materials for field retrofit kits
• Development and procurement of assembly fixtures
• Drawing review and approval for production release
• Quality-driven process documentation including Product Specification, Test Plan and FMEA
• First article reviews and approval of components for manufacturing approval
• Comfortable communicating with global vendors on DFM concerns and troubleshooting issues during the process of making parts
• Must be able to utilize strong project management skills to drive cross-functional coordination and ensure timely execution of deliverables.
• Cooperatively provides hands-on job function training to co-workers as needed
• Must understand and comply with Safety, 5S, ISO, and other corporate programs, initiatives and procedures
• Dependable and consistent attendance is critical for team performance and productivity
• Other duties or special projects as assigned
