Job description

Gencor Industries, Inc. is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to support the design, analysis, and execution of mechanical projects related to asphalt equipment manufacturing. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, project ownership, and effective communication skills while working in a collaborative engineering environment. MUST BE LOCAL WITHIN THE ORLANDO AREA OR WITHIN A 50-MILE RADIUS. NO RELOCATION.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical engineering calculations related to structural steel, including load analysis and design for seismic conditions
  • Develop and evaluate welding parameters and load points for equipment assemblies
  • Specify electric motor horsepower requirements and related mechanical components
  • Design and review foundations, conveyor systems, and structural components
  • Apply heat transfer fundamentals to equipment design and performance evaluations
  • Manage mechanical projects from concept through completion, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to project requirements
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, drawings, and engineering reports
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, purchasing, and quality
Required Qualifications:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing mechanical engineering projects
  • Demonstrated experience with structural steel design, welding design, and load analysis
  • Working knowledge of foundation design, conveyor systems, heat transfer principles, and structural design
  • Strong mechanical design background with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Thermal Dynamics experience/training
  • Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) preferred, or 3+ years of experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to perform extended periods of sedentary work, including sitting for prolonged durations.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, technical documents, and computer screens for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach in office or industrial environments.
