Engineering and Technical Recruiter at Gus Perdikakis Associates

Are you an experienced mechanical engineer who thrives on solving complex equipment problems and improving fleet reliability? Join our Steam Turbine team as a Senior Engineer and take ownership of the performance, outage planning, and issue response for steam turbines and related systems across the Carolinas region.

This position is both hands-on and strategic, with a mix of on-site presence during turbine outages and remote work focused on data analysis, planning, and system-wide improvements. You’ll act as a trusted technical advisor—analyzing trends, coordinating with vendors and OEMs, and directly influencing how we maintain and improve critical assets.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as the technical lead during major steam turbine outages, overseeing scope, quality, safety, and issue resolution.
  • Respond to emergent turbine or valve issues with sound engineering solutions grounded in mechanical principles and historical data.
  • Use tools like OSI PI Vision and other analytics platforms to monitor equipment health, detect early warning signs, and plan maintenance accordingly.
  • Partner with turbine specialists, planners, OEMs, and vendors to prioritize and coordinate work, ensuring downtime is minimized and performance is optimized.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, reports, and recommendations that influence decision-making across the fleet.
  • Participate in vendor shop inspections for QA/QC and ensure field work aligns with engineering standards and expectations.
  • Stay current on new turbine technologies, failure trends, and evolving best practices across the industry.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or a Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • (A Master’s in Engineering may be accepted in lieu of a B.S.)
  • 6+ years of relevant experience, preferably in steam turbine systems, rotating equipment, or the power generation industry
  • Deep understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and outage planning
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, juggle multiple projects, and make data-informed decisions
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal—able to translate technical findings into action for cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency with OSI PI Vision, Microsoft Office tools, and root cause analysis processes
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25–35% and support fieldwork during outages, including occasional nights or weekends
