Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer (MEP – HVAC Focus)

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)

Salary Range: $100,000 – $130,000 (Dependent on Experience)

Position Overview

An established MEP consulting engineering firm is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to support the design and delivery of HVAC and mechanical systems across commercial, institutional, and public‑sector projects.

This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who can independently execute design packages while working under senior technical leadership. The position is focused on engineering execution and coordination rather than full project management responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems including heating, cooling, ventilation, and air distribution systems
• Perform load calculations using HAP, Trane Trace, CHVAC, or similar software
• Size and select mechanical equipment (AHUs, RTUs, chillers, boilers, pumps, cooling towers, etc.)
• Prepare construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD
• Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, and fire protection disciplines
• Conduct site surveys and document existing conditions
• Perform code reviews and ensure compliance with NYC and applicable building codes
• Support sustainable and energy‑efficient design initiatives
• Participate in client meetings alongside senior engineers
• Assist with construction administration tasks including RFIs, submittals, and occasional site visits

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 3–7 years of MEP consulting experience
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
• Familiarity with NYC building codes preferred
• PE License (NJ or NY preferred but not required)
• Strong technical, coordination, and communication skills
