Mechanical / Cooling Engineer

Company: A leading European data infrastructure company specialising in advanced data centers for the AI space

About the Role:

We’re seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical/Cooling Engineer to support the design, deployment, and optimization of advanced cooling systems across high-density compute environments, including AI, HPC, and immersion-cooled data centers.

As a key part of our technical team, you’ll work on cutting-edge deployments supporting digital infrastructure for hyperscale, enterprise, and colocation customers. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing European technology company during its U.S. expansion phase.

• Lead the design, integration, and maintenance of mechanical and thermal systems for data center environments
• Specify and support installation of immersion, liquid, and hybrid cooling technologies
• Collaborate with electrical and facility teams to ensure system efficiency and operational continuity
• Conduct thermal load assessments, airflow analysis, and mechanical calculations
• Review vendor designs and provide technical validation and commissioning oversight
• Ensure compliance with U.S. building codes, ASHRAE, and industry best practices
• Support ongoing monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cooling systems on active sites
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Experience in data center, HVAC, or critical facility mechanical systems
• Experience with immersion cooling, chilled water, DX systems, or similar technologies
• Understanding of ASHRAE thermal guidelines for IT equipment
• Familiarity with CFD modeling, airflow optimization, and energy efficiency metrics (e.g., PUE)
• Ability to work in a cross-functional team and travel to data center sites as required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience supporting AI/GPU workloads, HPC infrastructure, or edge computing environments
• Certifications such as PE (Professional Engineer) or LEED AP
• Knowledge of BMS/SCADA integration, controls systems, or facility monitoring platforms
