Job summary

LeoForce is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Littleton, CO office to design mechanical systems for large central cooling and heating plants and lead the design team through project coordination.

The role requires a ABET-accredited B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, 7+ years in engineering design and construction administration, and proficiency with Autodesk Revit BIM. PE license is highly preferred; salary ranges from $120,000 to $140,000 per year with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited institution.
  • PE license is highly preferred and favorable for progression.
  • 7+ years of experience in engineering design and construction administration.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with customer-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical systems for central cooling and heating plants including boilers, chillers, pumps, piping, and control systems.
  • Perform calculations such as heat and mass balance, hydraulic modeling, energy analysis, and pipe stress analysis.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers and designers.
  • Prepare design packages with drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and design narratives.
  • Coordinate with project managers, teams, and external consultants to resolve design issues.
  • Participate in construction administration: site visits, reviews of shop drawings, and progress documentation.

Job Details
  • Design mechanical systems for large central cooling and heating plants, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, large bore piping, and control systems
  • Perform engineering calculations such as heat and mass balance, code compliance analysis, hydraulic modeling, energy analysis, and pipe stress analysis
  • Provide technical direction, guidance, and mentorship to team members, including mechanical engineers and designers
  • Take initiative in completing design and analysis tasks for project submission packages, which include drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and design narratives
  • Collaborate with project managers, team members, other disciplines, and external consultants to address design coordination and issues
  • Participate in construction administration by attending meetings, reviewing shop drawings, conducting site visits, and documenting progress
Requirements
  • Possess strong leadership, teamwork, communication, and customer service skills
  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer with over 7 years of experience in engineering design and construction administration
  • Proficient in designing using Autodesk Revit for Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Experienced in conducting fieldwork and documenting existing engineering conditions
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with institutional infrastructure systems
  • Experience with ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code
