Overview

SSOE is seeking an experienced Process Mechanical Engineer. This role involves developing and completing engineering calculations, equipment sizing, selection, and preparing equipment and construction specifications. Coordination with multi-discipline engineering and design teams is essential to deliver design and construction deliverables.

Responsibilities

A Typical Day Might Include:

The mechanical process engineer should have experience with industrial and power piping and equipment, either in design or maintenance. Responsibilities include designing and delivering construction outputs for projects in industrial chemical and power utilities, including boilers. A working knowledge of pipe stress analysis and field experience with project installation or implementation are advantageous.

  • Assist in designing plant installations, coordinate with design/drafting teams, and prepare equipment and construction specifications, including major rotating equipment like boilers, compressors, turbines, and pumps, as well as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Collaborate with the team leader to complete designs, including working with PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Coordinate with multi-discipline engineering and design teams to accomplish project tasks.
  • Help prepare bid packages and facilitate equipment procurement.
  • Provide quality service within schedule and budget in a collaborative team environment.
  • Represent the firm in meetings and conferences to resolve issues and coordinate projects.
  • Maintain ongoing professional education in the discipline.
  • Engage in client contact and business development activities.
  • Meet with clients to define project scope, present progress, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Perform field work to support project activities.
  • Travel may be required.
Qualifications

Qualifications Needed on Day One:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, qualifying for licensure in the state of practice.
  • PE license or PE-track preferred, with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the A/E industry is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASME process piping codes B31.1 & B31.3; experience with Caesar II stress analysis software is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license required; may be waived for international assignments.
  • Salary Range: $90,000-$115,000/year, depending on location, education, experience, and certifications.
