Position Summary

Ajax/CECO/Erie Press is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The Mechanical Engineer supports the design, analysis, and development of mechanical systems, components, and assemblies for heavy industrial machinery. This role collaborates closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and cost requirements from concept through delivery.

Job Duties
  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components for forging and forming equipment using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses to ensure structural integrity and reliability.
  • Create and maintain detailed 3D models, drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs)
  • Support project management through all phases—concept, design, fabrication, testing, and installation.
  • Collaborate with electrical and hydraulic engineering teams to integrate multi-disciplinary systems
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, assembly, and field service teams.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives for existing designs.
  • Review customer specifications and ensure compliance with applicable standards and safety requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to project documentation.
What You Need to Be Successful
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical design or industrial equipment manufacturing
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD, FEA and other engineering analysis tools
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, stress analysis, and material properties
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in mechanical design of industrial equipment used in the forging industry, presses, or other heavy machinery
  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD or ANSYS
  • Other duties as assigned.
