Job summary

AVANTech, LLC in Columbia, SC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with up to 5 years of experience to help design and implement water treatment systems worldwide. You will review 3D models, 2D drawings, calculations, and QC with project managers and engineers.

The role requires collaboration with manufacturing teams and adherence to ASME, AWS, and client specifications, ensuring safety and quality across projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college/university.
  • Ability to work with others in a cooperative team environment.
  • Proficiency with Creo or SOLIDWORKS preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Positive attitude and excellent work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with design team, customer, subcontractors and Project Manager to resolve technical issues and move the design process along efficiently.
  • Produce conceptual designs from client specifications and develop both basic and detailed engineering documentation.
  • Perform and document design calculations to ensure design is compliant with client specifications and applicable codes and standards.
  • Assist with the preparation of scope, cost, and schedules for future project/tasks.
  • Work closely with suppliers, vendors, and technical representatives for specification of various mechanical systems and components.

The MechanicalEngineer will have an integral role in helping AVANTech design and implementwater treatment systems across the globe. Your role in this process willinclude the review and approval of various design documents including 3D systemmodels, 2D manufacturing drawings, technical reports, and design calculations.The Mechanical Engineer will work with project managers, electricalengineers, chemical engineers, and senior mechanical engineers to developcreative solutions to solve problems in the water treatment industry. The role is envisioned for someone entry level to 5 years of experience.

JobResponsibilities/Duties
  • Workclosely with the design team, customer, subcontractors and Project Manager toresolve technical issues and move the design process along efficiently, helpingminimize scope creep.
  • Produce conceptual designs from client specifications anddevelop both basic and detailed engineering documentation.

  • Assist with the preparation of scope, cost, and schedulesfor future project/tasks.
  • Work closely with suppliers, vendors, and technicalrepresentatives for specification of various mechanical systems and componentsto support overall project design.
  • Ensure compliance of various design documents withAVANTech Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) program.
  • Interact with manufacturing team members to optimizemechanical design. Manufacturing team members can include welders, pipefitters, painters, operators, and quality assurance personnel.
  • Possess the ability to implement various design codes andstandards. These standards shall include, but not be limited to, pressurevessel (ASME Section VIII Div.1), piping (ASME B31.3), structural (ASCE 7 /AISC Steel Construction Manual), and welding codes (AWS D1.1 / AWS D1.6).
RequiredQualifications
  • Bachelorof Science (B.S.) Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college/university.
  • F.E. or P.E.preferred, not required.
  • Abilityto work with others in a cooperative team environment.
  • Generalknowledge of Creo or SOLIDWORKS is highly preferred.
  • Strongproblem-solving capabilities.
  • Positiveattitude and excellent work ethic.
AdditionalRequirements

Allcandidates must be able to pass a drug test, pre-employment physical, andbackground investigation.

Highawareness of safe working practices and procedures.
