Job summary

AVANTech LLC is seeking a qualified Field Technician to join our team, preferably near Knoxville, TN. The role supports safe and compliant management of wastewater and liquid waste streams in accordance with DOE requirements, including radioactive and hazardous waste management.

Qualifications

  • 1-5 years experience operating water processing systems.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and follow specifications.
  • Practical knowledge of fluid and material handling.
  • Understanding of basic water chemistry.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Nuclear Power Plant Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain processing equipment at nuclear power plants.
  • Support equipment start up and testing.
  • Collect water samples and perform routine laboratory analyses and reports.
  • Review and interpret technical data and regulatory requirements related to liquid waste streams.
  • Perform frequent plant and equipment inspections to ensure safe operations; detect operational and mechanical problems; perform and/or request equipment maintenance and repair work as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records and reports as required.
  • Nuclear Power Operations experience is a plus.

Position Summary

We are seeking a qualified FieldTechnician to join our team, with a preferred location in or near Knoxville, Tennessee. This role supports the safe, compliant, and efficient management of wastewater and liquid waste streams in accordance with federal, state, and Department of Energy (DOE) requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procedural compliance and wastewater treatment operations, including radioactive and hazardous waste management.

  • Collect water samples and perform frequent routine laboratory analyses and reports

RequiredQualifications
  • 1-5 years experience in operation of water processing systems
  • Applicant must have the ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and be able to follow design specifications and procedures
  • Practical knowledge of fluid and material handling systems
  • Understanding of basic water chemistry
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Nuclear Powe Plant Security Clearance to nuclear facilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Currently located in or willing to relocate to the Knoxville, TN area
  • Prior experience in radioactive waste streams and/or water processing
Work Environment

This role will require travel and work in both office and industrial settings, including nuclear power plants and waste storage areas. Travel may be up to 55-70% of the job.

JobType & Compensation
  • Full-time, non-exempt, hourly.
  • Compensation based on experience and skill level.

Candidates must be able to pass drug test, pre-employment physical, and background check. A high level of safe working practices is vital.
