Job summary

AVANTech, LLC is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to design and implement water treatment projects for government and commercial nuclear sectors. You will perform detailed process design, testing, and on-site start-ups, while learning cutting-edge technologies and innovating solutions.

The role targets a Chemical Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of experience. You will work with peers to develop creative designs, under mentorship from experienced experts, on projects in safety-critical

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze/understand basic chemical engineering documentation (mass/energy balances, P&IDs, etc).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Competence in Microsoft Office.
• Competence in AutoCAD or other drafting program.
• Problem-solver who identifies innovative solutions to real-world problems.
• Ability to balance productivity on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepares PFDs, MEBs and P&IDs.
• Performs detailed sizing calculations and selects process components.
• Collaborates with mechanical and electrical engineering groups.
• Develops analyses, test protocols, and reports.
• Designs bench/pilot scale testing apparatus and analyzes data.
• Provides engineering feedback to support fabrication activities.

Who You Are:

The successful Chemical Process Engineer will help AVANTech design and implementwater treatment projects in the government and commercial nuclear sectors. It is a stimulating role that will require detailed design,testing, and on-site start-ups of a variety of water and contaminated effluent conditioning systems. The role requires initiative to constantly learn about new technologies and innovate creative ways of solving complex problems. As a Chemical Engineer, you'll have an opportunity to work beside your peers developing creative solutions, while being mentored by industry-leading experts in their field. The current role is envisioned for a Chemical Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of experience.

A Day in the Life:

• Prepares process flow diagrams (PFDs), material and energy balances (MEBs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
• Performs detailed sizing calculations and select process components (pumps, control valves, instruments, consumables, etc)
• Relay process design and closely collaborate with the mechanical and electrical engineering groups
• Develops analyses, test protocols, and reports to demonstrate designs perform and required functions
• Complete all aspects of bench/pilot scale testing initiatives, including design of test apparatus, creation of test instructions and related data analysis
• Supports fabrication activities by providing engineering feedback

Qualifications:

• B.S. in Chemical or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university
