Job summary

Primera Engineers is seeking an experienced HVAC engineer in Chicago to design and analyze systems for diverse buildings. You’ll develop HVAC calculations, size equipment, and produce drawings using Revit and AutoCAD, while coordinating with architects and other engineers.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering, FE certification, and strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards and mechanical codes. You’ll manage multiple projects and communicate clearly with clients and team members.

Qualifications

• HVAC design and analysis knowledge with ASHRAE standards
• Experience reading and developing mechanical drawings and construction documents
• Proficiency with HVAC design software such as Revit and AutoCAD
• Strong communication and technical writing skills

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC system design and calculations for various buildings using approved software
• Select mechanical equipment and generate schedules
• Prepare HVAC drawings and detail sheets
• Assist with field surveys of HVAC equipment and systems
• Coordinate CAD across projects
• Maintain project documentation and calculations
• Collaborate with architects and engineers

Who You Are

• You have at least3+yearsof experiencein HVAC system design,analysisand engineering
• You have a B.S.in MechanicalEngineering
• Having your FE isrequired.Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 1-2 years is preferred
• You havestrong understandingof ASHRAE standards, IMC, IECC, and relevant mechanical codes
• You haveexperience preparingHVAC load calculations, system sizing, and equipmentselection
• You haveabilityto read and develop mechanical drawings,specifications, and construction documents, and have experience with air distributionand hydronic piping design, and familiar with mechanical equipment(airhandlers, chillers, boilers, pumps,cooling towers, etc.)
• You haveexperience working witharchitects, structural engineers, and other disciplines
• You are skilledin MS Office
• Proficiencywith HVAC design softwaresuch as RevitandAutoCAD isa must
• You have ability to managemultiple projects and meet deadlines
• You havestrongcommunicationskillsand technical writing skills

Starting salary is between $85,000 – $100,000 based on skills and qualifications, with the high end of the range limited to applicants based on relevant years of experience.
