Job summary

MKS Instruments is offering a Mechanical Engineering Intern program in Andover, MA. The 3-month internship begins in January 2026 and partners with Product Marketing, Engineering and Operations to support sustained engineering and product testing activities.

You will report to the Sr Manager, Product Development and gain exposure to multiple divisions, with opportunities to extend into the summer based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor).
• Hands-on skills in a laboratory environment.
• Comfortable with mechanical and electrical hardware.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support design of highly reliable products with cost, reliability, serviceability and manufacturability in mind.
• Perform tests on prototypes to demonstrate that product specifications are met.
• Complete data reduction and evaluate results to make recommendation on next steps.
• Complete documentation of designs conforming to MKS documentation standards including: detail and assembly drawings, BOMs, design review presentations, and test reports.
