Job summary

Loparex LLC in Iowa City seeks an experienced electrician/maintenance technician to support paper conversion machinery in an industrial setting. You will perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance to keep production lines running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities include servicing air systems, boilers, chillers, and HVAC, reading schematics, modifying AutoCAD drawings, and using CMMS tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and support for paper conversion machinery in an industrial environment.
• Keep production machinery operating; identify mechanical problems, determine repair procedures, and initiate requests for parts.
• Identify and correct safety concerns, participate in safety programs, and adhere to all rules and procedures.
• Service plant support systems such as air compressors, chillers, boilers, and HVAC.
• Work with safety, production, process, and maintenance departments to drive continuous improvement.
• Maintain safe working knowledge of low voltage systems up to 480 VAC/3-Phase and 600 VDC.
• Troubleshoot motor control systems, including starter circuits and drive applications (AB PowerFlex, Yaskawa, Siemens, Magnatek).
• Read electrical schematics for control systems and power distribution; create and modify drawings using AutoCAD.
• Use multimeter, process meter, and various electrical tools for testing.
• Complete work orders assigned to the E&I group for troubleshooting, repair, installations, and process improvements.
• Operate forklift, platform lift, and sky jack as needed.
• Use MS Office tools and software for communicating with field devices.

This position focuses on electrical and mechanical work to ensure equipment safety, reliability, and uptime across all manufacturing operations. We’re Looking For

• Experience as an electrician in a factory environment.
• Two‑year degree of Applied Science or associate degree in a technical field related to Electrical and Instrumentation.
• Prior experience that demonstrates ability to perform the job duties.
• Skill with a variety of diagnostic and repair tools.
• Ability to read and follow electrical and mechanical schematics, technical manuals, drawings, and regulatory books.
• Solid computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, and CMMS systems.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Ability to weld and use cutting torch.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Must provide own tools/toolbox.
• Must wear personal protective equipment such as ear plugs, safety glasses, gloves, and steel‑toe shoes.
• Must pass all three pre‑employment tests (lifting test, drug test, background check).

Shift Available

• 11 PM – 7 AM, Sunday to Thursday.
