Job summary

Loparex LLC in Iowa City is seeking an Electrician/Maintenance Technician to keep paper conversion machinery running reliably. You will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, perform preventative maintenance, and install or modify control systems with AutoCAD drawings as needed.

The role requires a two-year degree in a technical field, experience in factory environments, proficiency with diagnostic tools, and the ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree or associate in Electrical/Instrumentation.
• Industrial electrical/mechanical experience in a factory setting.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics and manuals.
• Proficient with diagnostic/repair tools and safety practices.
• Welding and cutting torch ability is preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Must provide tools/toolbox.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled electrical and mechanical troubleshooting for paper conversion machinery.
• Keep production machinery operating; identify problems and request parts.
• Identify and correct safety concerns; participate in safety programs.
• Service plant support systems (air compressors, chillers, boiler, HVAC).
• Work with safety, production, process and maintenance teams to improve processes.
• Read schematics and create/modify drawings using AutoCAD; perform electrical testing.
• Use multi-meter and field tools; complete work orders for E&I group.
• Operate forklift, platform lift and sky jack as needed.
• Basic MS Office use and CMMS interactions.

This position is responsible for electrical and mechanical work scope to ensure equipment safety, reliability, and uptime. Responsible for performing effective preventative maintenance activities, corrective activities, installing, modifying new and existing electrical/electronic control system, mechanical components and systems used for all manufacturing operations at Loparex.

What You'll Do:

• Provides skilled electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and support for paper conversion machinery in an industrial environment.
• Responsible for keeping production machinery operating. Identifies mechanical problems and determines the appropriate repair procedures and initiates requests for parts needed.
• Highly involved in identifying and correcting safety concerns; participates in safety program and adheres to all rules and procedures.
• Services plant support systems (air compressors, chillers, boiler, HVAC)
• Works alongside safety, production, process and maintenance departments to drive continuous improvement.
• Safe working knowledge of low voltage systems up to 480 VAC/3-Phase and 600 VDC
• Ability to troubleshoot motor control systems consisting of starter circuits and drive applications. Typical drives include AB PowerFlex, Yaskawa, Siemens and Magnatek
• Effectively read electrical schematics for control systems and power distribution. Also creates and modifies drawings using AutoCAD.
• Utilizes multi‑meter, process meter and various electrical tools to perform electrical testing.
• Completes work orders assigned to the E&I group for troubleshooting, repair, installations, and process improvements.
• Operates forklift, platform lift and sky jack as needed.
• Basic computer usage of MS Office tools and familiar with installing/running software used for communicating with field devices.

We're Looking For:

• Ability to work as an electrician in a factory environment.
• Two-year degree of Applied Science or associate degree in a technical field that relates to Electrical and Instrumentation
• Previous experience provides the qualifications to perform the job duties.
• Ability and skill to use a wide variety of diagnostic and repair tools.
• Ability to read and follow electrical and mechanical schematics, technical manuals, drawings, and regulatory books.
• Solid computer skills to include Excel, Word, Outlook and use of a CMMS system
• Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools.
• Ability to weld and use cutting torch.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues.
• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Required to provide tools/toolbox.
• Must have the ability to wear personal protective equipment including ear plugs, safety glasses, gloves, and steel toe shoes

Shift available:

• 11PM - 7 AM. Sunday to Thursday.
