Job summary

Kiewit Engineering Group, Inc. seeks a Mechanical Designer to develop detailed piping and mechanical equipment designs and 3D models for power plants and related facilities.

You will work on steam cycle systems, boiler feed and condensate, water treatment, fuel handling, hydraulic and other mechanical systems in EPC projects across North America.

The team emphasizes constructability, safety and collaboration, with opportunities to mentor interns and grow within an employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• 3-12 years’ experience in Design and/or Drafting with piping/mechanical systems in 3D modeling.
• Power generation experience is preferred.
• Experience with 3D programs and checking interferences and constructability.
• Experience conceptualizing designs/models in 2D/3D for mechanical systems.
• Experience in Power market piping/equipment layouts or Oil & Gas/Chemical plants.
• Ability to work in a growing, adaptive, multi-disciplined team.
• Ability to work independently with limited direction.

Responsibilities

• Draft sketches, P&IDs, plans, sections, drawings and 3D models for power plant systems.
• Check design deliverables against codes, standards and contract requirements.
• Coordinate with drafters, designers and team members to support progress.
• Train and advise interns or new graduates.
• Identify scope changes and stay within budget and schedule.
• Participate in project meetings as required.
