As a Designer IV at Trane Technologies, you will serve as a senior member of a high-performing product development team, leading and supporting the mechanical design and development of HVAC products. This role is responsible for driving the creation of detailed engineering documentation, 3D models, and production drawings that translate product requirements and engineering intent into practical, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions. The ideal candidate brings demonstrated leadership, advanced technical design expertise, sound judgment, and a continuous improvement mindset, along with the ability to influence design direction and contribute innovative solutions that enhance product performance, reliability, serviceability, and overall value. What you will do
  • Lead the development of 3D models, production drawings, and engineering documentation for HVAC components and assemblies.
  • Translate product requirements into manufacturable, cost-effective design solutions while influencing key design decisions.
  • Drive design execution across the product development lifecycle from concept through production release.
  • Champion design improvements that enhance product performance, reliability, serviceability, and customer value.
  • Apply advanced mechanical design knowledge to guide robust, high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Establish and reinforce design and drafting standards to ensure accurate, consistent documentation.
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, lab, and project teams to align design execution with program goals.
  • Own bills of materials, drawing revisions, and controlled documentation to support product accuracy and change management.
  • Lead complex project work, provide technical direction, and resolve design issues proactively.
  • Serve as a go-to CAD and design resource, mentoring others and promoting best practices.
  • Demonstrate leadership through innovation, continuous improvement, and a strong customer-focused mindset.
  • Coordinate, train, and review the work of team members.
  • Working knowledge of Model-Based Definition (MBD) is a plus.
  • Communicate effectively and follow company safety and security requirements.
What you will bring
  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field, with 10+ years of mechanical design experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with 7+ years of mechanical design experience.
  • Experience in HVAC, industrial equipment, or a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as PTC Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar design platforms.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, design for manufacturability, tolerance analysis, engineering change management, and PLM, ERP, or document control systems.
Compensation

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range: $65,200.00 - $118,860.00
