Notre Dame is seeking a Mechanical Engineering professional to design and document building systems. You will perform calculations, create drawings in Revit and AutoCAD, and coordinate with junior staff to deliver accurate, code-compliant designs.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering, with EIT preferred, and have familiarity with BIM tools, Trane Trace 3D Plus, and Bluebeam Revu. Strong communication and detail orientation are essential.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering or related field.
• Engineer-in-training (EIT) certification preferred.
• Internship experience in building design consulting industry preferred.
• Basic knowledge of BIM software Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
• Strong technical and analytical skills covering heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics in mechanical building systems.
• Familiarity with Trane Trace 3D Plus and Bluebeam Revu.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.

Responsabilidades

• Design and layout mechanical systems such as HVAC, piping, plumbing, and fire protection with assistance.
• Prepare engineering documents using CAD tools (Revit and AutoCAD) with junior staff support.
• Edit or draft project specifications with assistance.
• Conduct field measurements and site checks at construction sites.
• Review drawings for omissions, errors, quality, accuracy, and code compliance.
• Review submittals for design content and specify corrective actions.
• Maintain organized project files including calculations and references.
• Assist in selecting and sourcing equipment.
• Coordinate projects with other disciplines.
• Communicate scope changes to managers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Perform calculations and design layouts for mechanical systems such as HVAC, piping, plumbing, and fire protection with assistance.
• Create engineering documents using CAD technology (Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD) or manually, supported by junior staff.
• Edit or draft project specifications with assistance.
• Conduct field measurements and checks at construction sites.
• Review drawings for omissions, errors, quality, accuracy, and compliance with standards and codes.
• Review product submittals for design content and specify actions to meet specifications.
• Maintain organized project files including calculations, correspondence, and reference materials.
• Select and source equipment with assistance.
• Coordinate projects with other disciplines.
• Communicate scope changes to the department manager and Project Manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About You

The company is looking for candidates with:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
• Engineer-in-training (EIT) certification preferred.
• Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Building Information Modeling software (Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD).
• Strong technical and analytical skills, including principles of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics related to mechanical systems design for buildings.
