Job summary

Power Design seeks a Mechanical Designer to craft mechanical and plumbing system designs for large-scale projects. You will perform HVAC load and plumbing flow calculations, select equipment, and lay out ducts and piping to ensure efficiency and performance.

Collaborate with Revit/CADD technicians and project teams, applying industry standards and customer budgeting requirements while maintaining the company’s focus on integrity and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of relevant mechanical/plumbing design experience.
  • Strong design fundamentals for mechanical/plumbing systems and installation methods.
  • Experience with VRV, WSHP, and DX Split systems; Revit/CADD experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and plumbing codes (IPC, IMC, IBC, ASHRAE).
  • Excellent communicator who can read and interpret blueprints, submittals, and specifications.

About The Position

The Mechanical Designer at Power Design is the brain behind the design of mechanical and plumbing systems on our large-scale projects. As the Mechanical Designer, you'll work on HVAC load and plumbing flow calculations, equipment selections, and ductwork and piping layouts to ensure efficient and high-quality system performance.

Position Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the best design solutions for mechanical and plumbing systems by applying industry knowledge and quality standards while considering customer needs and budgeting requirements.
  • Provide design direction, support, and guidance to all team members, including working directly with Revit CADD technicians to ensure quality and review constructability.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, project team members, and inspecting authorities.
Here's What We're Looking For
  • Team player who always acts with customers in mind and thrives in a constantly changing and evolving environment with at least 3 years of relevant mechanical/plumbing design experience.
  • Working knowledge of constructability and strong design fundamentals for mechanical and plumbing systems and installation methods required.
  • Experience with VRV, WSHP, and DX Split systems and/or CADD/Revit experience preferred; bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical and plumbing codes (IPC, IMC, IBC, ASHRAE).
  • Excellent communicator who can read and interpret blueprints, submittals, and specifications and perform basic plumbing calculations.
  • Knowledge of HVAC load calculations using Trane Trace or similar HVAC load and energy analysis programs, as well as experience in duct sizing, layout, and design for air systems.
