Job summary

Power Design Engineering, LLC is seeking a Mechanical Designer to develop mechanical and plumbing system designs for large-scale projects. You will perform HVAC load calculations, equipment selections, and ductwork/piping layouts to ensure efficient, high-quality systems.

You’ll coordinate with Revit/CADD technicians, review constructs, and communicate with customers and authorities while upholding our values of integrity, accountability, teamwork, innovation and growth.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of mechanical/plumbing design experience.
  • Strong constructability and design fundamentals for mechanical/plumbing systems.
  • Experience with VRV, WSHP, and DX Split systems preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
  • Knowledge of IPC, IMC, IBC, ASHRAE.
  • Able to read blueprints, submittals and specs and perform basic plumbing calculations.
  • HVAC load calculations using Trane Trace or similar programs; duct sizing is required.

About the PositionThe Mechanical Designer at Power Design is the brain behind the design of mechanical and plumbing systems on our large-scale projects. As the Mechanical Designer, you’ll work on HVAC load and plumbing flow calculations, equipment selections, and ductwork and piping layouts to ensure efficient and high-quality system performance.Position ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the best design solutions for mechanical and plumbing systems by applying industry knowledge and quality standards while considering customer needs and budgeting requirements.Provide design direction, support, and guidance to all team members, including working directly with Revit CADD technicians to ensure quality and review constructability.Communicate effectively with customers, project team members, and inspecting authorities.Here’s What We’re Looking ForTeam player who always acts with customers in mind and thrives in a constantly changing and evolving environment with at least 3 years of relevant mechanical/plumbing design experience.Working knowledge of constructability and strong design fundamentals for mechanical and plumbing systems and installation methods required.Experience with VRV, WSHP, and DX Split systems and/or CADD/Revit experience preferred; bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.Detailed knowledge of mechanical and plumbing codes (IPC, IMC, IBC, ASHRAE).Excellent communicator who can read and interpret blueprints, submittals, and specifications and perform basic plumbing calculations.Knowledge of HVAC load calculations using Trane Trace or similar HVAC load and energy analysis programs, as well as experience in duct sizing, layout, and design for air systems.Demonstrate and uphold all of Power Design’s core values: integrity, accountability, teamwork, innovation, and growth.At Power Design, we are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and teammates without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, age, physical and mental disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, military and veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
