Job summary

Mechanical Design Services in Huntsville, AL is seeking a full-time, on-site HVAC, plumbing and fire protection designer. The Engineer/Designer will create detailed designs, perform heat load calculations with Carrier HAP, and draft and model in Revit MEP (CAD alone is not sufficient).

You will review project plans, coordinate with contractors, and participate in project meetings while visiting sites. The ideal candidate holds a degree in HVAC engineering or has 5 years of HVAC design experience

Qualifications

Job description

Mechanical Design Services, provides HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Mechanical Engineering services to Architects, and Commercial Business Owners. Mechanical Design Services provides construction administration services including site observations as well as Owner, Architect and Contractor meetings during project construction.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Mechanical Designer located in Huntsville, AL. The Engineer / Designer will be responsible for creating detailed designs of HVAC, fire sprinkler protection and plumbing systems, collaborating with engineers and other team members, conducting site visits, and ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards. Daily tasks will include heat load calculations with Carrier HAP, Revit MEP drafting and modeling (CAD alone is not sufficient), reviewing project plans, coordinating with contractors, and participating in project meetings.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 year experience working in the HVAC, Plumbing and / or Automatic Fire Suppression design / construction / service technician industry with a Bachelor's degree in HVAC Mechanical Engineering. If applicant does not have a Mechanical Engineering Degree, they must have 5 years of design experience in HVAC Mechanical Engineering design.


• Proficiency in Revit MEP.


• Proficiency in HVAC Design and HVAC systems.


• Experience in Plumbing Design and plumbing systems.


• Experience in Automatic Fire Suppression systems desired.


• Knowledge in industry standards, local and national building codes and regulations.


• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.


• Ability to work collaboratively with design team as well as the Architect, Owner and Contractor.
