Job description

Overview

This role requires a mixture of process improvements and machine/fixture design and implementation to improve machine availability, reduce defects, and improve overall OEE. KPI information is used to evaluate each target process or machine to improve. Improvements could include cycle time reduction, machine modification, fixture redesign, spec-out new equipment, assisting the engineering team with line moves, and general process improvements. Supporting documentation may include SASG, MCNs, and work instructions.

Responsibilities
  • Improve machine availability and overall OEE through process and equipment improvements.
  • Use KPI data to evaluate target processes or machines and drive improvements.
  • Implement cycle time reduction, machine modifications, fixture redesigns, and specification of new equipment as needed.
  • Assist the engineering team with line moves and other production improvements.
  • Complete supporting documentation for each project (e.g., SASG, MCNs, work instructions).
  • Train others, assist with design, check drawings, and locate older project files when beneficial.
  • Provide guidance on quality, safety, and efficiency of production processes; monitor and sustain OEE improvements.
  • Travel as required for training, design validation, and support.
Qualifications
  • Strong problem-solving skills (research, investigation, observations, testing, DOE, L2L data, documentation).
  • Highly skilled in machine repairs and modifications.
  • Extensive SolidWorks experience (assemblies, drawings, part modeling, toolbox, templates).
  • Ability to train others, assist with design, check drawings, and locate older project files; initiative to complete tasks on time and in budget with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with automation and/or robotics is recommended.
  • Experience implementing, modifying, and monitoring the quality, safety, and efficiency of production processes.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming/troubleshooting.
  • Projects may require teamwork beyond a single individual to fully evaluate and implement improvements.
