Job summary

Chart Industries in Beasley, TX is seeking a Mechanical Design Systems Engineer to design and analyze mechanical systems, equipment, and packaging for cryogenic applications. You will develop 3D models, release drawings and ensure manufacturability.

The role requires a BSME or equivalent, 3+ years of machine design experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Knowledge of ASME VIII and API 614 is a plus, with collaboration across manufacturing and procurement.

Qualifications

• BSME or similar degree; post-graduate study or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant machine design experience.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Experience with 3D modeling and document control of large assemblies is a plus.
• Knowledge of sizing lube oil system components including reservoir, pump, separator, filter, control valve, and instruments.
• Familiarity with ASME Section VIII and API 614.
• Excellent organizational, computer and communication skills.
• Ability to interface with manufacturing and procurement.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of staff.
• Thorough understanding of engineering materials and design for reliability and manufacturability.
• Comfortable with all phases of product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze mechanical systems, equipment, and packaging.
• Size lube oil and seal gas systems.
• Create and release 3D models, general arrangements, P&ID, BOM.
• Size reservoir, pump, separator, filter, accumulator, control valve and instruments.
• Verify vendor drawings for design accuracy and customer specs.
• Interface with outside suppliers as needed.
• Troubleshoot in manufacturing and procurement.
• Ensure timely delivery of documents to manufacturing.
• Develop engineering reports and presentations.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to define design requirements.
• Determine root cause analysis and testing activities.
• Direct communication with clients.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to improve manufacturability.
• Support production by troubleshooting process and component problems.
• Work under supervision of senior Mechanical Design and Systems Engineer for complex projects.
