Job summary

Bascom Hunter is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design, analyze, and manage turbomachinery, compressors, electric motors, generators, and marine propulsion for Aerospace & Defense applications. This in-person role is based in Indianapolis and involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to meet high-performance requirements.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical/aerospace engineering background, 3+ years of relevant experience, and strong project management skills. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of engineering experience in Aerospace & Defense.
• Experience managing engineering projects from concept through delivery.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, ANSYS, or equivalent.
• U.S. Citizenship required due to DoD contract

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop technical solutions and integrated systems.
• Perform design, analysis, system integration, and validation testing for power and propulsion systems.
• Develop specifications, requirements, and design documentation per Aerospace & Defense standards.
• Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to track progress and status.
• Support prototype fabrication, instrumentation, testing, and qualification activities.
• Identify risks and mitigate throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain adherence to industry regulations and quality processes
