Job summary

MRL Consulting Group | Global Niche Technology Recruitment seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to support semiconductor equipment components on Long Island, NY. You will learn product lines, design and test new parts to improve MTBF/MTBM, and translate customer requirements into effective designs with engineering and sales teams.

Ideal candidates have 6 years in mechanical design, strong CAD skills (SolidWorks or Inventor), GD&T proficiency, and familiarity with LabVIEW or COMSOL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field required; master's preferred.
• 3-5 years in a design engineering role; semiconductor and/or ion optical industry experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ion optics and/or metallurgy of refractory metals preferred.
• Ability to create and read mechanical drawings, and to understand complex GD&T as it pertains to thermodynamics (required).
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or Inventor.
• Proficiency with LabVIEW and/or COMSOL preferred.
• Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in teams.
• Ability to thrive in a detail-oriented environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Support senior management in developing new products and expanding the product lines.
• Understand the ion implant systems the company supports and drive new design and development of products and solutions.
• Create BOMs for new design assemblies.
• Design experiments to test prototypes.
• Prepare technical designs, drawings and models of new components and assemblies.
• Test prototypes for form, fit and function, and perform thermal testing analysis.
• Capture customer requirements and communicate them to the engineering and sales teams.
• Help further develop the Research and Development team.
• Prioritize and manage customer engineering requests.
• Assist with and lead new R&D projects with the engineering team.
