Applied Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Fargo, ND with 5+ years of experience in industrial equipment design. You will design, troubleshoot, and improve equipment, collaborating across functions to ensure builds meet specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 5+ years of machine design experience; Creo preferred.
• Ability to work independently with sound judgment and initiative.
• Strong problem-solving skills for complex technical challenges.
• Experience collaborating across business functions and contributing to team success.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new equipment and standardize existing equipment using Creo
• Troubleshoot manufacturing and assembly issues and provide hands‑on support to the production team
• Improve and update current product lines using new tools, materials, and lessons learned
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure machines are built to specification
• Lead or facilitate technical design reviews to support knowledge sharing and peer development
• Apply critical thinking to resolve complex technical challenges independently
• Generate innovative ideas to improve equipment, processes, and engineering outcomes
• Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners
• Contribute to projects that impact communities in West Fargo, Moorhead, Dilworth, and Horace, and the greater Fargo, ND metro
• Apply your skills in a dynamic environment that values ownership and innovation
