Job summary

Maverick Power in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and produce low- and medium-voltage power distribution and control systems for customers across industries. You will create mechanical designs, 3D models, drawings, and BOMs while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology.
• 2–3 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 2–3 years using SOLIDWORKS or equivalent 3D CAD.
• Experience creating mechanical drawings, assemblies, and BOMs.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and basic electrical documentation.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, and enclosures for low- and medium-voltage switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, and control panels.
• Create and maintain 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and assembly documentation using SOLIDWORKS.
• Generate and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.
• Review customer drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, and layout drawings to support project design requirements.
• Apply design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles to improve manufacturability, reduce complexity, and support efficient production.
• Support engineering changes and modifications to standard products to meet project-specific requirements.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers and production personnel to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
• Assist manufacturing, testing, quality, and field service teams with technical support related to product designs.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable UL, ANSI, IEEE, NEC, and customer requirements.
