Jobbeschreibung

General Role Description

Design, develop, and validate mechanical systems for outdoor photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage system (ESS) inverter platforms in order to ensure reliable performance, environmental protection, manufacturability, and serviceability in harsh outdoor conditions

Requirements
  • Design mechanical systems for inverter platforms, including enclosures, structural frames, mounting systems, internal layouts, and component packaging, in order to meet product design and project requirements
  • Develop 3D models, detailed drawings, bills of material, and engineering documentation for inverter assemblies in order to enable accurate manufacturing, assembly, and product release
  • Define mechanical architecture, clearances, accessibility, and serviceability requirements in coordination with electrical, thermal, controls, sourcing, manufacturing, and testing teams
  • Design outdoor-rated inverter enclosures and related mechanical systems in order to address ingress protection, ventilation, sealing, condensation control, corrosion, solar loading, ambient temperature, altitude, acoustic, and vibration requirements
  • Integrate cooling components, airflow paths, ducting, heat sink structures, fans, heat exchangers, pumps, and related mechanical features in collaboration with thermal and electrical teams
  • Perform structural, vibration, tolerance stack-up, manufacturability, and thermal-stress evaluations in order to validate mechanical designs and reduce product risk
  • Coordinate prototype builds, environmental testing, mechanical testing, and validation activities in order to confirm design performance and identify required design modifications
  • Analyze field issues and root cause findings in order to implement mechanical design improvements that reduce failures and improve reliability
  • Apply design for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, and cost principles in order to improve fabrication, assembly, localization, supplier qualification, and lifecycle cost
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to proposal, field, and client-facing activities as needed
General Employee Accountabilities
  • Bring full effort to bear on tasks assigned by manager
  • Give manager best advice
  • Give earliest notice when work cannot be delivered as specified
  • Cooperate and collaborate with peers and interact cross-organizationally as specified by manager
  • Exemplify Company Core Values: Integrity, Client Focus, Team Orientation, and Personal Commitment
  • Comply with all Company policies, practices, and procedures and all regulations and laws
  • Recommend viable improvements proactively
  • Ensure effective utilization of business tools and processes
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering or related field, or equivalent via education and/or work experience
  • 3 years of demonstrated experience in mechanical design for power electronics, inverters, switchgears, transformers, outdoor industrial equipment, or related mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated experience with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience with multi-physics simulations (FEA/CFD) using tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS Maxwell, etc
  • Demonstrated understanding of structural design, materials, and manufacturing processes such as sheet metal, casting, machining, or related fabrication methods
  • Demonstrated understanding of thermal management and cooling systems for power electronics
  • Familiarity with environmental design requirements for outdoor equipment, including IP and/or NEMA ratings
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
  • Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Availability to travel domestically and internationally, less than 20% as needed, occasionally with limited notice
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience in mechanical design for power electronics, inverters, switchgears, transformers, outdoor industrial equipment, or related mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated experience with designing equipment to meet UL, IEC, or other standards relevant to outdoor electrical equipment
  • Demonstrated experience with liquid cooling system design
