General Role Description
- Design, develop, and validate mechanical systems for outdoor photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage system (ESS) inverter platforms in order to ensure reliable performance, environmental protection, manufacturability, and serviceability in harsh outdoor conditions
- Design mechanical systems for inverter platforms, including enclosures, structural frames, mounting systems, internal layouts, and component packaging, in order to meet product design and project requirements
- Develop 3D models, detailed drawings, bills of material, and engineering documentation for inverter assemblies in order to enable accurate manufacturing, assembly, and product release
- Define mechanical architecture, clearances, accessibility, and serviceability requirements in coordination with electrical, thermal, controls, sourcing, manufacturing, and testing teams
- Design outdoor-rated inverter enclosures and related mechanical systems in order to address ingress protection, ventilation, sealing, condensation control, corrosion, solar loading, ambient temperature, altitude, acoustic, and vibration requirements
- Integrate cooling components, airflow paths, ducting, heat sink structures, fans, heat exchangers, pumps, and related mechanical features in collaboration with thermal and electrical teams
- Perform structural, vibration, tolerance stack-up, manufacturability, and thermal-stress evaluations in order to validate mechanical designs and reduce product risk
- Coordinate prototype builds, environmental testing, mechanical testing, and validation activities in order to confirm design performance and identify required design modifications
- Analyze field issues and root cause findings in order to implement mechanical design improvements that reduce failures and improve reliability
- Apply design for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, and cost principles in order to improve fabrication, assembly, localization, supplier qualification, and lifecycle cost
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to proposal, field, and client-facing activities as needed
