Job summary

Subcritical Systems, Inc. in Austin, TX is seeking a hands-on mechanical engineer to design and deliver components for an advanced reactor facility.

You will apply first-principles analysis across heat transfer, fluid flow, stress, and dynamics, working closely with physicists, engineers, and tradespeople. You\'ll manage the full lifecycle from requirements to FEA in ANSYS and CAD in Siemens NX, ensuring ASME piping and pressure vessel compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of heat transfer, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and structural dynamics.
• Able to defend modeling choices in design reviews.
• Experience reading P&ID, weld, and fabrication drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering analyses including heat transfer, fluid flow, vibration, and stress.
• Use CAE tools (ANSYS) and maintain proficiency.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to define requirements and test.
• Ensure design compliance with ASME piping and pressure vessel codes; NX CAD work.
