Job summary

Subcritical Systems, Inc. in Austin, TX seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer with 10+ years of experience to develop components and systems for subcritical assembly and particle accelerator components.

You will work closely with engineers and scientists in a fast-paced, on-site environment to translate requirements into manufacturable designs and robust documentation. The role requires expertise in FEA, GD&T, and CAD tools (NX, SolidWorks).

Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical design engineering experience.
• Proficient in FEA and material selection.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's preferred.
• Strong GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and ability to create clear drawings.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and detailed mechanical designs for components, assemblies, and systems.
• Perform structural finite element analyses of mechanical systems.
• Translate requirements into manufacturable designs and create fabrication drawings.
• Manage 3D CAD models and drawings using NX or SolidWorks; produce BOMs and specs.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and safety requirements.
