Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries is seeking an Engineer - Mechanical to design and rebuild lumber manufacturing equipment in Eugene, Oregon. You will assist in developing processing equipment and model concepts using SolidWorks, while leading assemblers and machinists on projects.

The role emphasizes collaboration with operations, overseeing installations and start-ups, and ongoing learning to stay at the forefront of lumber machinery technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 1 year experience in lumber industry and/or machine design preferred.
• SolidWorks or 3D modeling software experience required; FEA analysis is a plus.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, drives, welding, and machining preferred.
• Machine center alignment and installation experience preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and rebuild lumber manufacturing equipment.
• Assist in development and improvement of lumber processing equipment.
• Model detailed concepts and designs using 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks).
• Provide leadership and direction to assemblers and machinists.
• Coordinate activities for development of new equipment.
• Plan and supervise installation, upgrades, and start-ups.
• Continuously learn and improve knowledge of industry and equipment.
