Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries in Anderson, California is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and rebuild lumber manufacturing equipment and coordinate development of processing machinery.

You will lead fabricators, model concepts with 3D software, oversee installation and startup, and work with operations to understand needs. BS in mechanical engineering or 5 years related experience is expected; SolidWorks proficiency crucial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or 5 years’ significantly equivalent experience.
• 3 years’ experience in the lumber industry and/or machine design.
• 3 years’ working experience with SolidWorks software required; FEA analysis is a plus.
• Machine center alignment and installation experience.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, drives, welding, fabrication, and machining preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills; excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and rebuild lumber manufacturing equipment.
• Coordinate development and improvement of lumber processing equipment.
• Model detailed concepts and designs using 3D modeling software.
• Provide leadership and direction to fabricators, assemblers, machinists, and shop personnel.
• Work with operations to understand complete application and needs.
• Coordinate activities for development of new equipment.
• Plan and supervise equipment installation, upgrades, and start-ups.
• Pursue ongoing learning to improve knowledge of industry and equipment.
